Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter, popularly known as Beyonce, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. She was born on September 4th 1981, in Houston, Texas, USA. Her father was a professional record manager and her mother was a costume designer and hair stylist. Beyonce was educated at St. Mary's Elementary School in Texas, USA, where she enrolled for dance classes, ballet and Jazz. Her singing talent was discovered by her dance instructor.

   Her interest in music and performing began after participating and winning a school talent show. Beyonce rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B girl group, Destinys Child, one of the world's best selling girl groups of all time. She released her debut Solo album, Dangerously in Love, in 2003, which contained two number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 Crazy in Love and Baby Boy and became the most successful album that year, earning her Grammy Awards. Beyonce also ventured into acting with her debut in the musical film Carmen: A Hip Hopera.

   She has endorsed many brands including Pepsi, Tommy Hilfiger, Nintendo and Vizio. In April 2008, she married American rapper Jay-Z, and gave birth to her first child, Blue Ivy Carter, in January 2012. In 2012, she was named World's Most Beautiful Woman by People magazine.
